Job Summary
- The Line Service position performs general aircraft fueling, customer service and miscellaneous duties for all aircraft, based and transient, light equipment and automotive maintenance/repairs, light janitorial and snow removal duties for the DeKalb Taylor Municipal Airport. This position requires a strong customer service background and the ability to work under minimal supervision.
POSITION CONTEXT:
The position of Line Service is assigned to the Airport Division of the Public Works Department. The Line Service role is a part-time non-exempt position under the direct supervision of the Airport Manager. This is a part-time position that will average 15 to 20 hours per week and at no time may exceed 1,000 hours in a 12-month period. The work schedule will consist of hours mutually agreed upon with the Airport Manager generally between the hours of 7:30 AM and 5:30 PM, Monday through Sunday with occasional holiday and/or night call outs for aircraft fueling as needed.The starting rate for the position is $25.79 per hour. The full pay range for the position is $25.79 - $37.41 per hour.Initial review of applications will begin Wednesday, February 25, 2026. The position will remain open until filled. Essential Functions

- Fuels all types of aircraft including piston and turbine aircraft and helicopters according to FAA requirements. Pumps fuel from underground tanks into aircraft and/or fuel tanks.
- Assists aircraft and flight crews with various needs.
- Greets, receives, and screens visitors at the Fixed Based Operation (FBO) desk. Responds to telephone and walk-in inquiries.
- Accepts fuel payments including cash handling and credit card processing. Completes necessary logs/reports.
- Assists customers with catering set-up, arrangement of courtesy cars and car rentals and coffee service for aircraft.
- Performs quality and safety control checks of aviation fuel and completes necessary records.
- Moves aircraft including towing and storage.
- Handles aircraft cargo and baggage for aircraft passengers and crew.
- Oversees ground power unit (start-ups) for aircraft including connecting and disconnecting ground power unit and directing inbound and outbound aircraft to and from the ramp.
- Performs light janitorial and maintenance work at FBO.
- Performs light grounds work such as landscaping and snow removal.
- Completes light equipment and automotive maintenance/repair work.
- Stays abreast of inclement weather conditions and disseminates information to aircraft customers as needed. De-ices aircrafts as needed.
- Completes all aircraft fueling safety training and stays current with applicable standards.
- Opens, sorts, reviews and routes mail.
- Assists with scheduling of conference room and set-up of room for meetings.
- Completes other duties as assigned.
- Knowledge of and ability to operate certain aircraft refuelers (fuel trucks), fueling cabinets, safety and quality fuel checks and operation of machinery pertinent to accomplishing assignments.
- Ability to handle monetary instruments such as credit cards and cash. Must have the ability to complete basic arithmetic to complete financial record tasks.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while exercising good judgment and initiative.
- Must have strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to understand and follow complex verbal and written instructions.
- Strong customer skills with the ability to develop and maintain collaborative working relationships with all levels of staff, management, customers and general public.
- Must have the ability to maintain professional composure and take reasonable action when confronted with difficult situations.
Minimum Qualifications

Education:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Valid driver's license required.
- Previous airport line service and/or aviation experience preferred.
- Previous mechanical/maintenance experience preferred.
- Working knowledge or ability to gain proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook) and aviation software required.

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- This position will work routinely work between an office and outdoor setting. While working in the office, the person in this position will regularly sit, stand, walk, reach with hands and arms and talk or hear on the phone and in person. While working outdoors, the person in this position will routinely stand for prolonged periods of time, stoop, kneel, bend, climb, crawl or crouch to reach items and maneuver uneven, outdoor terrain.
- This position will regularly be exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, vibrations and outside elements including extreme cold, wind, rain and heat.
- This position will occasionally lift and/or move fuel hoses and cargo weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by this position include corrected close, distance and night vision.
EQUIPMENT USED:- Computer, printer, scanner, copier, telephone, cellular phone, two-way radios.
- All employees are required to furnish their own steel-toed safety shoes/boots. All other required protection equipment will be furnished by the department.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:- This position requires the ability to work outside of normal business hours including evenings, weekends, holidays and call-outs as required.
