Position Information
Position Title Full-Time Biology Faculty
Job Summary
This full-time, nine-month (fall and spring semesters) faculty position in the Biology Department will focus on instruction in Anatomy and Physiology, with additional teaching in Human Biology and General Biology. The fall/spring teaching load may include daytime, evening, online, hybrid, and flex course offerings. The successful candidate should be able to work with students with a wide range of academic preparation and collaborate with other faculty in professional activities. Candidates must exhibit an effective teaching style that supports innovative instruction, the use of technology and the success of a diverse student body.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Mastery of disciplinary content
  • Facility with a variety of instructional and office productivity technologies
  • Proficiency in assessment of student learning
  • Competence in teaching strategies that foster active learning and student success
  • Effectiveness in leadership, organizational, and team-building skill
Required Qualifications
  • Master’s degree or higher from a regionally accredited institution in Biological Sciences, Human Anatomical Sciences, or a related field with at least 18 graduate credits in Biology coursework and
  • Strong academic preparation in Human Anatomy and Physiology
  • Proficiency in operating and maintaining biology laboratory equipment, and ability to support safe and effective laboratory instruction
  • Commitment to community college mission
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively as a team member
  • Demonstrated skills in effective communication in English, both spoken and written
Preferred Qualifications
  • Two (2) years of teaching experience, community college experience preferred
  • Demonstrated use of varied, effective instructional modalities, including but not limited to online, hybrid, laboratory, lecture, and active-learning formats
  • Documented experience with mammalian dissection and hands-on laboratory instruction
  • Experience with curriculum and course development
Physical Demands
  • Work is normally performed in a general office, laboratory and classroom environments
  • Light physical activity required; must be able to work in an office setting, use standard office equipment, and communicate effectively in various formats
  • Primarily daytime hours with some evening and weekends to support College events and initiatives
